Taking care of your washer and dryer will keep them working properly and help avoid costly repairs.

✅ Washing Machine Tips

Check Pockets First – Remove coins, tissues, pens, and other small items.
Use the Right Detergent – Only use HE (high-efficiency) detergent if your machine requires it. Using too much soap causes buildup and odors.
Don’t Overload – Wash medium loads so water can circulate. Overloading strains the motor and leaves clothes unclean.
Leave the Door Open – After each use, keep the door open to help the drum dry and prevent mildew.
Clean the Gasket – Wipe the rubber door seal regularly to remove moisture and lint.
Run a Monthly Clean Cycle – Use a washer cleaner or 1 cup of white vinegar with hot water to reduce buildup and odors.
Check Water Supply Hoses – Look for leaks or bulges; report any issues right away.

✅ Dryer Tips

Clean the Lint Filter – Always remove lint before or after every load. This prevents fires and keeps the dryer efficient.
Don’t Overload – Dry medium loads so air can circulate.
Check the Vent – Make sure air flows out of the vent outside the home. Report if you notice weak airflow or long dry times.
Dryer Sheets – Use sparingly; too many cause residue on the lint screen.
Never Dry These Items – Oily rags, rubber, or flammable materials (they’re a fire hazard).
Wipe the Drum – If ink, dye, or residue gets inside, wipe with mild soap and water.
